Scholarship Information

There are two types of financial support available: Incentive Grants and Need Based Funding. In order to qualify for Incentive and/or Needs-Based funding from Temple Emanu El forms need to be completed each year.

Incentive Funds: Temple Emanu El works in conjunction with the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland (JECC), and the Michael and Anita Siegal One Happy Camper Program and other community funders to provide incentive based grants for Jewish Camps.  These funds are not need based and are available to any religious school participant who attends an approved camp that is at least 3 weeks in length.  This grant includes a required match from the TEE Scholarship Fund.

Below are three ways in which we can assist you:

Denominational Camps:

URJ – GUCI,  George, Six Point Sports or Science, KUTZ

Non Denominational Camps:

Camp Wise, Bieber, Emma Kaufmann, etc.

Need-Based Scholarships: Temple Emanu El provides need-based scholarships for students attending Jewish overnight camps, approved Israel trips and NFTY Conventions. For all need-based scholarships, the following factors will be taken into consideration: (1) financial need; (2) commitment or participation level of student (i.e. religious school attendance, Shabbat service and holiday attendance, youth group activity, etc.); and (3) availability of Temple funds. Financial information will be reviewed on a confidential basis. A number of families in our congregation have made generous provisions for camp and Israel trips. If you require financial assistance, provided you have been a member in good standing for the past three years, you may apply for a scholarship. In return, we expect your child to make a commitment to complete his/her studies in our Religious School through High School Graduation.

To apply for need-based and/or incentive scholarships, please follow these easy steps:

    1. Enroll your child in a qualifying camp.
    2. Visit the JECC website to learn more about the incentive grants.
    3. Register for the Michael and Anita Siegal One Happy Camper camp incentive.
    4. Complete Temple Emanu El’s scholarship application and return to the TEE office.
