EARLY ENGAGEMENT

Temple Emanu El’s Early Engagement programs, intended for children from birth to age six and their parents, bring Shabbat, holiday observances and Jewish customs to the appropriate level for children. These events and programs help parents get more involved with Jewish rituals so that they can start or enhance traditions at home. Studies have shown that the early engagement of young children and their families with Jewish observance and culture increases their feeling of belonging to the Jewish community.

Tot Shabbat – Generally held once a month on a Friday at 5:30 pm. Tot Shabbat offers children ages 6 and under along with their parents or grandparents a Shabbat experience starting with prayers followed by songs, stories, crafts and a snack.

Doing It Jewishly – Also held once a month  this program explores Jewish Holidays, followed by a related activity and a snack.
